UPDATE: FIRE ISLAND ON FIRE!

Matty Slick-Haxx

Since our post last night about the fire on Fire Island, a lot has happened. Well, to put it more appropriately, a lot has been destroyed. Gawker reported this after noon the following, "Starting at about 9:30pm yesterday, the main complex on the harbor in the Fire Island Pines, gay-list New York's summer getaway, caught on fire destroying the historic Pavilion nightclub, the bar Sip 'N' Twirl, the restaurant Pines Bistro, and the eateries and retail spaces below them. The whole complex will be demolished."

It took over two hours to get the fire under control, and the entire area is still smouldering. There are no set plans for reconstruction just yet, but the owners, of course, want it back up and running in time for next season. Really, if you think about it... we gays love to remodel and what better excuse that a FREAK ACCIDENT THAT ALMOST BURNED DOWN THE ENTIRE FIRE ISLAND PINES!!! I smell Spackle, crown molding, and lots of hot sweaty construction workers. LETS GET CRACKING BOYS!!! We can lunch in the Meat Rack!

But seriously, we here at Antitwink.com are glad everyone is safe. Today we remember. Reminisce about that handy you got at High Tea at the Pavillion, or that hot ass you rimmed after one too many Long Islands at the Sip n' Twirl, maybe even banging your head under the table while giving your date a blow-j at The Bistro; such pleasant, slutty memories. Please, A moment of silence...

Here are some photos of the destruction:
