Type O Negative Frontman Dies

Peter Steele, the frontman for heavy metal band Type O Negative, has been confirmed dead at 48. And while we not exactly big metal fans—really we probably couldn't identify a Type O Negative song if we heard one—we'll always remember him for his 1995 Playgirl spread. Long before Daniel Nardicio got minor celebs to bare all—or almost all—for the skin rag, Peter Steele let it all hang out for lady metal fans everywhere.

Of course, we have to wonder if this little incident from last July might have been an early warning sign that Steele wasn't long for this world.

Either way, while Type O Negative fans play the band's CDs in memorial, we'll still have our well worn copies of Playgirl's August 1995 issue to remember Steele, and his big ol' cock. R.I.P. dude!
