Illustrated Missed Connections
It's Valentine's Day, and Sophie Blackall's illustrated Missed Connections blog is one of the few things that are are actually making us feel kinda warm and fuzzy today. The Brooklyn-based children's book illustrator's upcoming book is a collection of illustrated "missed connections" posts from Craigslist. Longtime AntiBlog readers (you exist, we just know you do!) know about our general fascination with missed connections. But Blackall's illustrations tap into something other than the absurdity we're usually attracted to. They're lovely and kinda heart meltingly hopeful, like magical valentines for people you don't know. And they're definitely the antidote to a boringly cynical Valentine's day.
