Raising the Bar: Lykke Li

Lykke Li I Follow Rivers video Wounded Rhymes

We spend a lot of time posting about Britney and Gaga and objectionable hot dudes we'd like to sleep with and that sort of nonsense. And while we love us some pop divas and some trashy gossip, there's definitely more to life than that. Hence the newest AntiBlog feature, Raising the Bar, in which we attempt to inject a little quality control into the AntiTwink.com cultural dialogue. We're not about to start recommending Vivaldi or anything. We simply think that there's plenty of pop music out there that's, you know, a little more cerebral, and it deserves your attention as well!

We're kicking things off today with the video for "I Follow River" from Lykke Li's new album Wounded Rhymes. We'll admit, we had lukewarm feelings at best about Li's debut album, Youth Novels. But on Wounded Rhymes the Swedish indie pop star has gone all 60's occult dark on us. This album just has a bigger, gutsier sound than her first, and "I Follow Rivers" is the perfect entrance point into Li's dark sophomore triumph.
