OMFG! Surviving Gossip Girl's Downturn

We don't know about you, but we have a feeling Gossip Girl may have jumped the shark this season. But we know how to get you through till your fave show either gets its head out of it's ass or gets canceled. Two words: Gawker Recaps.
Last year, when our roommie brought home the first season on DVD we ended up watching the whole thing in on weekend, squealing with delight and wondering why no one had told us how good this shit was. (Actually, they had told us how good this show was, we just refused to listen.) Fastforward to now. The show's third season is back from winter break and...well, we're really fucking bored with it!
Little J is an insufferable brat (points for authenticity!) and we just can't deal with another episode focusing on her tantrums about being old enough—at 15!—to date drug dealers and skip school. We thought the Little J vs. Little Gay thing was super duper fun last fall, but that didn't last. Dan and Vanessa are together, as if pairing up the two least compelling characters will do anything for the series. Serena is breezing through regular series gueststars at break-neck speed and then getting all huffy when people think she's a slut. And we are so royally sick of sweet supportive Blair. Seriously, Gossip Girl! You've declawed, and de-funnied, what was probs the best thing you had going for you! Also: no one gives a shit about Lilly or Rufus or Dorota, so stop trying to make that happen!
Still, we feel somehow compelled to watch. You know, to stay in the loop, painful as it may be, just in case the show bounces back. But that's where the recaps on Gawker come in. We've taken to reading those instead of watching the actual episodes, cause they are way funnier and way bitchier. Just generally way better! Plus, each week Richard Lawson tallies up each character's power plays to see who's coming out on top this season. Geeeeenius! It almost makes it worth watching the show again, just to giggle with delight at the sweetly snarky things the boys at Gawker will say about each episode after it airs!
