The Gay Pimp's Wank-tastic Blog!
We're loving Jonny McGovern's new-ish photo blog, My Life at Night! The venerable gay party promoter and star of Logo's Big Gay Sketch Show has been posting pics from his 10 year career in New York nightlife. You can imagine what kind of photos they are: dirty snapshots of mostly naked go-go boys at McGovern's signature party, Boys Gone Wild at Boysroom, and later at the original mr. Black. The pics are hot, def. The Gay Pimp always hired some of NYC's sexiest go-go studs, and managed to turn them into go-go superstars. Jay Star, Brian Kenny, Blu Kennedy, both the Brandons, Hunter James... Those guys were kinda like the Kate, Naomi, Linda and Christy or go-going and they're all here, pictured in all their buff, sweaty, naked glory. And the fact that it looks like McGovern took these pics with a shitty disposable camera and then scanned them onto the Internet all crooked and grainy give them an even raunchier, retro-porno feel.
But there's also the fact that My Life at Night depicts a bygone era. Boys Gone Wild and Boysroom and even mr. Black are all now defunct, and rumor has it that McGovern is leaving NYC for LA in the near future. So his blog is kind of a retrospective, a trip down memory lane—with your hand in your pants—a monument to the kick-ass scene he created. Thanks for the memories, Jonny!
