He's Here, He's Queer, On the Pier?
Ricky Martin came out yesterday, ya heard? And, predictably, the announcement garnered Martin more press in one day than he's gotten in the past decade. Well today, Next Magazine is firing up a grassroots campaign to have the "Livin' La Vida Loca" singer perform at the Pier Dance at this year's NYC Pride. Via NextMagazine.com
"We’re taking this opportunity to officially submit our vote for special guest at this year’s Pier Dance: WE. WANT. RICKY. MARTIN... what better way to celebrate being out and proud than with the cream of the New York crop at the finale of Pride? Get those publicists on speed dial because we expect to be Livin’ La Vida Homo with Ricky in June!"
Ok, we're totally on board. He may be over the hill in pop star terms, and his coming out will totally be old news by June, but if Heritage of Pride can't get Gaga—and we're willing to bet they're doing everything they can to score that one—Ricky Martin will def be a crowd pleaser. HOP is notoriously tight lipped about their surprise performers at Pier Dance, so we'll just have to wait unitl June 27 to see who they get. But if it's Ke$ha, so help us, we will throw such a tantrum!
